Today my boss had an important meeting in the conference room and asked me to make coffee for the attendees. I said sure even though I've never made coffee before. How hard can it be?
Well my boss came back for the coffee and saw that I was struggling to make it. He checks it out and told me I forgot to add water. Talk about simple and stupid! Gosh I was so embarrassed. The boss-man had to make coffee for his own meeting!
I pretty much knew all the basics like 1. pull the top and take the old filter and coffee out 2. add a new filter and ground coffee then snap the top back in 3. press start! Well I missed a couple of steps and figured/ hoped that I wasn't the only person who didn't know.
So here are the real directions to brewing coffee in a drip coffee maker:
- Remove the carafe and swing out the basket (whats a carafe? I have no idea!)
- Place a filter in the basket and add ground coffee. Approximately one heaping tablespoon of ground coffee for every cup of coffee you want to make.
- Swing the back basket into place, and fill the reservoir with water. Approximately one cup of water for each cup of coffee you want to make.
- Place the carafe back into the machine and turn it on. (it must be the pot. why can't they just say pot? I've never heard someone say carafe)
- Coffee should be brewing!! *crossing fingers*
- Enjoy!!
- keep the carafe in the machine to keep warm but not to long so that it gets bitter
With having coffee on every corner this probably isn't important information. But to avoid my situation, I would learn it just in case!
